Bowie State University
College of Education
Bowie State University was founded in 1865 and sits on 300-acres of forested land in close proximity to both Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD. As the oldest Historically Black College/University in the state and tenth oldest in the United States, BSU is committed to providing a high-quality, affordable education for all ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. The university boasts accessibility to state-of-the-art computing systems, a NASA-managed satellite control center, and the latest technologies for many of the specialized undergraduate- and graduate-level programs. The diverse student body includes 5,600 enrollees, with 22 undergraduate and 38 graduate degree programs available in the areas of business, education, science and technology. Evening and online classes help adult professionals balance work/life responsibilities to advance their careers.
Bachelor of Science in Sport Management
The B.S. in Sport Management curriculum is designed to provide fundamental management techniques and address deficiencies in the industry. Students are trained for competency in ethics, psychology, marketing and promotion, facility management, governance, diversity, legalities, organization and administration, finance and economics of sport. Students must complete 120 semester hours and secure placement in an internship based on their area of interest. Graduates of the program are given opportunities to work within Maryland’s expanding sporting industry and contribute to its competitiveness. In addition to the sports industries, students will be well qualified for careers in the private and public sectors.

Mount St. Mary’s University

Bachelor of Science in Sport Management
The accredited sports management degree program in Maryland’s Mount St. Mary’s University helps students explore both the management and business aspects of sports. Concentration areas are available for students wishing to pursue specialization in sport law, ethics, management and marketing. Degree conferral requires the completion of 45 credit hours with coursework such as: Business and Economics of Sports, Sport Law, Ethics in Sport Management, Organization, and Marketing. Several sport electives are also available for subjects including: History of Sport in America, Sociology of Sport, Planning Corporate and Sport Events, Sport Journalism and International Sport Management. A sport industry internship is also required for graduation.

Towson University

Founded in 1866 and with a student enrollment of close to 22,000, Towson University is Maryland’s second largest public institution of higher learning. With a combination of practical and research-based learning, students learn the skills required by public and private organizations. TU offers over 100 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in liberal arts, sciences and various professional pursuits. Business Administration Major: Leadership & Management Concentration with a Minor in Sport Management
The B.A. degree is available through the College of Business and Economics and provides opportunities to learn about Sport Management as a specialization. The main curriculum focuses on providing leadership and management training to students seeking specialist or generalist positions. Core areas of study include: Information technology, fundamentals of management, human resource management, compensation and benefits, organizational behavior, multinational management and culture, staffing and retention, conflict resolution. All coursework is structured so graduates will be eligible for leadership positions in a variety of settings. Sport Management is a specialty area that utilizes all the business administration skills included in the B.A. program.
Bachelor of Science in Sport Management
This major is provided through the College of Health Professions/Department of Kinesiology and addresses management techniques related to various sport-related settings. The required coursework helps students gain knowledge in both business and the science of human movement. Degree conferral can be accomplished with a minimum of 120 credit hours. Upon graduation, students are eligible for positions in: recreation management, fitness industry, college-level and professional sports, and recreation management. An independent internship and practicum in a sports-related organization prior to graduation.
