Grand Canyon University
Colangelo College of Business
The Arizona Southern Baptists raised money for a new college that would emphasize their faith as an educational component. Then known as Grand Canyon College, it opened in Phoenix in the early 1950s. Though the school operated successfully for a number of years, it later went through some financial problems that led to Significant Education LLC purchasing the campus. Now known as Grand Canyon University, the school has a total enrollment of more than 40,000 students, which includes a number of students taking classes entirely online. This accredited college is one of the only for-profit colleges in the country that started as a religious institution.
Bachelor of Science in Sports Management
Those looking for accredited sports management degree programs in Arizona should look closely at the Bachelor of Science in Sports Management offered by Grand Canyon University. This program is one of the few in the country that offers hands on learning in the management field. Students have the chance to work with the teams affiliated with the school and work part-time at the local arena. Some students may opt to do an off-campus internship to gain some more experience. The program includes classes on faith and spirituality, awareness of global topics and issues, communications and core foundations. Students must also take 56 credit hours of sports management courses, including classes on management, ethics and legal issues, marketing and accounting. After meeting the general education requirements, passing sports management classes and taking the minimum number of electives, graduates will have a complete a minimum of 120 credit hours.

Eller College
Often ranked as one of the top party schools in the country, many assume that the University of Arizona has a more relaxed or laid back atmosphere. This university, which is the oldest in the state, dates back to the 1880s and produces a number of qualified graduates every year. Though the school once had a rolling admissions policy, it now has a more selective policy and accepts less than 80 percent of those who apply. Washington Monthly and ARWU ranked UA as one of the top 100 colleges in the United States, and U.S. News & World Report ranked UA at number 119.
Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) Sports Management Minor
The University of Arizona offers one of the more unusual accredited sports management degree programs in Arizona. Its Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) Sports Management Minor combines a general studies degree with a sports management minor. The BGS degree requires that all students complete the minimum number of general education courses required by the state, including courses in math, English, communications and social and life sciences. Students can then take courses from different disciplines to create a degree that applies more to their future careers. This lets students combine various topics to create a customized degree. The sports management minor is available through Eller College, which is the UA College of Business, but the 18 credit hour minor is only open to students majoring in a topic outside that college. Students must take three electives, three lower level and three upper level classes, including sports communication and tourism and planning in sports.
