The University of Wyoming is located in Laramie, Wyoming, and it has more than 12,400 students attending. The university opened in 1886, which was before Wyoming was admitted to the United States and was merely a territory. University of Wyoming Accreditation Details
The main accreditation for the overall university comes from the Higher Learning Commission, and this approval allows the university to award college degrees. Many degrees and departments throughout the university have earned accreditation by groups like the American Bar Association, which first accredited the College of Law at the university in 1923 after the college was established just three years earlier in 1920.
Other groups that have accredited or recognized various facets of the university include the American Chemical Society, the International Association of Management Education, the American Alliance of Museums, and the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation. University of Wyoming Application Requirements
There are three requirements for first-year students who want to apply to the University of Wyoming. Those standards include having a cumulative, un-weighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, earning a minimum ACT score of 21, and completing the university’s recommended high school curriculum. Students may substitute a score from the SAT and must achieve a score of 1060 or higher. Home school students and applicants with GEDs are welcome to apply.
Graduate education at the University of Wyoming requires several application materials that include the online application and a fee of $50. The majority of programs require official transcripts, and most programs also have extra application requirements that may include resumes, letters of recommendation, portfolios, or personal statements. Students will apply for graduate assistantships at the same time they apply for admission to the university.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for in-state residents at the University of Wyoming is estimated to cost $17,122 per year. That figure includes $4,50 for tuition, $1,452 for mandatory fees, $180 for an advising fee, and $390 for program fees. Students will also pay $4,628 for a room on campus and $6,122 for a meal plan. All costs are identical for out-of-state students except for tuition, which is $18,090 for the year rather than the $4,350 a year that resident students pay.
For graduate students who are residents of Wyoming, the estimated total cost of attendance is $23,349 for the year. That amount includes $4,878 for tuition, $1,411 in mandatory fees, and $1,200 for books and supplies. Other costs for items like room and board are similar to the costs for undergraduate students. Non-resident students will pay a higher rate for tuition of $14,598 and may have higher travel costs because of out-of-state residency.
Scholarships and financial aid at the University of Wyoming are administered after the student has successfully submitted a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
