The Broyhill Undergraduate School of Management at Gardner-Webb University offers a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and a minor in Sport Management. Students learn about management, business, communications, and leadership and how they relate to the field of sports. The bachelor’s degree program requires 51 credits of major courses. The courses include Principles of Sport Management, Social Issues in Sport, Communication in Sport, Sport Facility Design and Event Management, Sport Marketing and Promotion, Finance and Economics in Sport, Legal Issues in Sport, Integrated Experience in Sport Management, Sport Governance, and Sport as a Unifying Language. The program also requires the completion of an internship component. The minor requires 18 credit hours of major courses, including Sport Facility Design, Legal Issues in Sport, Principles of Sport Management, and Ethics and Leadership in Sport.

The College of Health Science offers a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science that provides students with the knowledge and abilities to work in various areas applying exercise science principles. The program requires 68 credits of major coursework and it offers three concentrations: health fitness, health sciences, and pre-professional. The core courses include Introduction to Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Medical Terminology, Research Methods, Exercise Science Capstone, Internship in Exercise Science. The Bachelor of Science in Sport Education requires 39 credit hours of major coursework. A capstone experience is also required. The major courses include Introduction to Health, Sport, and Physical Education, Motor Learning, Theory and Techniques of Team Sports, Theory and Techniques of Individual and Dual Sports, Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity, Physical Education for Diverse Populations, Kinesiology, and Scientific Principles for Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy. The Master of Arts in Sport Education requires 30 credit hours of major coursework. The courses include Research in Sport Pedagogy, Instructional Strategies, Scientific Principles of Human Performance, Sport in Society, Sport and Physical Education for Diverse Populations, Sport and Physical Education Administration, Legal Issues in Sport and Physical Education, Psychology of Sport, and Leadership and Ethics in Sport Pedagogy. About Gardner-Webb University

Gardner-Webb University is a private postsecondary institution located in Boiling Springs, North Carolina. It was founded in 1905 as a boarding school. In 1928, it became Boiling Springs Junior College. Its name changed to Gardner-Webb College in the 1940s in honor of Governor O. Max Gardner and his wife Fay Webb Gardner. In 1971, the college received complete accreditation. In 1993, the college finally became Gardner-Webb University. Today, more than 4,000 students call Gardner-Webb University home. Its 225-acre campus is rural and the school operates on the semester-based academic calendar.
