St. John’s University was founded by the Vincentian Fathers, a Roman Catholic group, in 1870. The school’s home was originally in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area in Brooklyn, but it was relocated to Queens in the 1950s. Today, the university has a healthy student body population of more than 15,000 undergraduates and 5,000 graduate students. The school was praised in the 1960s for admitting students with low income, and it was also recommended by “Time” magazine as a good small school. Specialization courses may include Sport Science for Coaches and Power, Politics, and International Sport Governance. Students will also need to complete a capstone project that includes a 3-credit seminar, a thesis, and an internship. To gain acceptance, students must demonstrate having earned a bachelor’s degree, as well as submit two letters of recommendation and a resume. The program doesn’t require that students take the GRE or the GMAT to apply; however, students who take these exams may choose to have them included with their application materials. Goals of the program include ensuring students graduate as well-educated and ethical leaders in sport. Students will receive practical and theoretical knowledge to attain these goals.

School of Business
St. Thomas Aquinas College was founded in 1952 by a Roman Catholic group known as the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. Located in Rockland County, the college sits on a 48-acre campus and offers classes to around 2,400 students. Established in 1906, SUNY Canton sits along the Grasse River in Canton, which is in St. Lawrence County. State University of New York, Cortland

Often called Cortland State by locals, SUNY Cortland has been ranked by Kiplinger’s as one of the 100 best values in a list of public colleges and universities. Founded in 1868, the school was once known as Cortland Normal School and would become part of the state university system in 1948. The program features 30 credit hours and is designed much like the undergraduate program in that students experience traditional classroom learning, as well as practical experience in sports environments. Students will complete 24 credit hours on campus and will have the opportunity to complete the last six credit hours at an international location in Germany, England, or Australia. SUNY at Fredonia
School of Business
As part of the State University of New York system, SUNY at Fredonia has around 5,100 students attending at the undergraduate level and about 300 students attending graduate school. The college started out in 1826 as a youth academy, but the school had some financial issues early in its history and would eventually transform into a Normal School. David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics
Syracuse University was once a seminary that was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church. One of the graduates of that early seminary was named Henry Jarvis Raymond, and he eventually went on to found “The New York Times.” Today, the college is considered nonsectarian although it does maintain a connection with the United Methodist Church. The school has an impressively sized student body of more than 21,000 undergraduate and graduate level students. The campus is located in Syracuse and covers around 630 acres.
